Let's say the government starts a special program to make soccer moms feel safe about protecting their kids from “a potential outbreak of some sort of disease” because kids do carry and spread diseases and those germs are certainly on everything they touch. First they register their homes with the government, and identify all soccer balls and game equipment by registering each piece with the government along with microchipping each item, heck, stick a chip in the kids, too. Then they file reports with the government after every soccer game and practice, scanning what equipment was used. The costs for chips, scanners and reports are borne by the individual families owning all this equipment. Then this “tracking” information is used to show the world that our professional big league soccer teams are disease-free and can safely travel to other countries to play soccer against other pro teams. A rule in the program makes the pro teams equipment exempt from individual chipping and movement reports because “they have such a huge amount of equipment per team and they all go to the games together as a group.” But if a kid sneezes, all soccer balls and game equipment that kid came near in a certain time period and within a 6 mile radius (140 sq. miles) is confiscated and destroyed, because it might have germs on it and could infect others.
Now let’s say the soccer moms argue that they do not have $ or time to track everything their kids do or where they go….they say, we can clean the soccer balls and equipment and vaccinate our kids. And just how often do our kids get sick that the whole neighborhood or team gets it, and besides we take our kids to the doctor for meds and keep the kid home until well. Very reasonable and effective, except for one little detail. The big companies who really want this program, who sell the chips and tracking and reporting equipment are pushing this, well because, they are making all the money on all those chips, reporting and tracking equipment and everytime mom files a report, ka-ching more $ in the till.
This plan makes about as much sense as me reporting where I ride my horse so corporate ag can tell the world how safe our beef supply is from FMD or BSE!!!! But that is NAIS summed up in the nuttiest nutshell you will ever see!!!!
The only difference is, if this were soccer moms you would hear the loudest outrage of rights being trampled on ever and it would be covered by all the media in large print….but it is just us poor ignorant farmers and ranchers and horse/cow/pig/chicken owners, so who cares! If you eat, you better care!

This is no surprise to me. Are all US citizens so ignorant as to let government THUGS just take over their lives without a fight? This is suppose to be a free country. We are a Republic, not a Democracy. Study up on the difference in the two words. The Federal Constitution does not say "Separation of Church and State". The book of Revelation in the Bible (does anyone read theirs?) talks about the mark of the beast. The next thing the government will try to do is put microchips in people; in their hand or in their forehead, as Revelation talks about. That's if people just lie down and let the government do as it pleases. This country is suffocating in needless laws. People need to WAKE UP! Many liberals would call me a "religious fanatic". The truth is I'm a Christian just trying to get by in this world. Thank you, Lisa Dowell

Didn't I just see this movie on the cable? A big conspiracy by cats to take over the world and get rid of all the dogs? One of those movies where real dogs and cats seem to be talking with the voices of famous actors.

Anyway, it doesn't work, a little kid believes the dog was framed, and helps expose the conspiracy.

The proposed NAIS is an unwise, uneeded, and unwanted act that will mostly line the pockets of people who will financially benefit from the sale of Identification Equipment, i.e. micro chips.
It would put another burden on the backs of citizens who include animal husbandry in their lives and livlihoods. An additional cost of money and time would cut into their already limited income and work time. Farmers, as well as animal breeders work long hard hours already to raise the best quality animals possible. They do not have the resources to spend on additional paperwork.
This vast amount of documentation that would result from NAIS is mind boggleing! Not only would the initial registration be enormous, but the follow up implimentation, and the inevitable enforcement of any unidentified animals......and what about punishment??
I strongly urge a NO VOTE on a National Animal Identification System!

Walter Jeffries

NAIS, pronounce it Nazi, is very scary stuff. I just wrote about it on my blog at:
