Your Mommy Kills Animals
This headline should have read "Your Granny Kills Animals". That's because my husband's Sicilian grandmother used to raise chickens in her tiny backyard up in the Bronx, and on Sundays, the entire family gathered for fresh roast chicken dinner. Ahhh, tradition.
Ok - so if you haven't seen it yet, better carve out some bloody time and check out the new indie documentary Your Mommy Kills Animals. Take a peek at the trailer below & then check out the SFist review here.
The film, praised for its neutral position, tries to fairly show those who support and those who oppose a radical animal rights agenda.
Most Americans have a positive view of "Animal Rights", feeling that it's about saving puppies and caring for animals.
However - the AR movement has taken a sharp turn, and unknown to many, has descended into intimidation, threats, stalking and violence -so much so that so-called "animal rights" organizations that generate millions (PETA, ASPCA, Best Friends, HSUS, etc.) through donations from the public, have now rebranded themselves as "animal protection organizations" .
Oh those cheeky, spinmeister monkies. Perhaps "revenue protection" organizations is more fitting, as this has been a coordinated PR move to put distance between themselves and ALF, SHAC, ELF.
Now - back to the movie. I've only seen the trailer, but I have questions, like:
- Question: Is free speech terrorism?
- Question: Do bombs, violence and killing constitute free speech?
- Question: When PeTA was killing puppies, where were the people who protest puppykillers.... and how come they didn't bomb PETA?
- Question: If animals aren't ours to "own" or use, how come PETA claimed "ownership" of said animals that they so callously killed in the back of their van?
The larger question is this: If violence against animals is wrong, why is violence against human animals right? (I think Ingrid & my ex-husband must know each other).
The Constitution clearly protects unpopular speech, but do killing & bombing equal free speech?
Now I 'd urge you all to become free speech advocates. You can make sure you exercise your very own constitutionally-protected right to free speech (as unpopular as it may be with certain folks) by chowing down on a nice, big plate of juicy pork chops and gravy --oooohh - and
roast chicken.
And if you're in the DC area, after the screening of Your Mommy Kills Animals, everyone is invited to Ingrid's house for Sunday dinner and a hearty discussion about free speech.
Ingrid will serve up the latest dish on SHAC, and a tasty, hand-raised, free-range, organic, certified humane roast chichen, fresh from PETA Farms (where they always kill with kindness.)
Ahhh, tradition. Just like the old days, huh, Ingrid.
Ever the hostess with the mostest - Ingrid also promises to share her secrets for success with tips on killing animals whilst serving as the leader of an organization dedicated to saving animals by killing animals, how to pick the right criminal defense attornies, and how to make tax-free millions in the process.
Hey Ingrid - is that meat I smell on your breath? Mmmmmmmmmm - mmmmm - mmmmm - boy, those pork chops sure taste good. That chicken ain't bad either.
What's that? The secret's in the sauce? Ingrid - you 'da bomb, girl.

While I firmly believe that all animals (including humans) should be treated with dignity and also believe that just because animals are being raised for food it does not remove that obligation, for a hypocritical organization such as peta to issue sanctimonious statements which contradict their own actions on a regular basis is galling.
The AR whackjobs have been running propaganda campaigns for years in schools. As with any organization of fundamentalist proselytizers, this must stop.
If they actually had any suggestions on how to make animal husbandry practices more humane, I might listen to them - nobody is all wrong all the time.
However, in view of their own record, I think it's time they enjoyed a nice hot cup of STFU - they are as bad, if not worse, than the people they try to demonize.
Just as hearing Ontario's own Michael Bryant spout platitudes about fighting discrimination and protecting human rights is so Orwellian as to be hilarious, hearing AR freaks rant about man's inhumanity to other species is just as ridiculous.

It's impossible to tell just from the trailer which side the movie takes. As for the violence of AR language, yes for better or worse, the 1st Amendment protects violent speech. Ann Coulter hasn't been indicted for making a "joke" about killing Supreme Court justices.

The movie was vetted by the NAIA, which is distributing it to show at schools, etc. If you don't know how the NAIA works to protect the rights of animal owners and breeders, please take some time to check them out (www.naia.org).

I feel the same way about seeing this film as I do about rescue groups going to dog auctions and buying their chosen breed from puppy mills...I refuse to support the actions...How do we know THE AR natzis didnt have a hand or money in the project for propoganda? Is there a trickle down effect at work here? Will some of it eventually end up in the hands of AR groups to forward their motives?
Keeping my money and my sanity here!
