I hope and believe that someday, those responsible will look back in shame on the atrocities committed against these dogs and the people who love them - much as we in the United States and Canada look back in shame on Japanese Internment camps of World War II.

Perhaps like the legislation signed by President Reagan in 1988, there will be an official public apology. In the case of the Internment camps, the legislation stated that government actions were based on "race prejudice, war hysteria, and a failure of political leadership".

Let's flag that language and keep it handy...

I'm in the U.S. and my dog is a bichon/poodle mix, and I'm even scared for him. So many animals are being banned for absolutely no reason all over the world, and it's getting ridiculous. I'm even scared for my rodents. I though this was supposed to be a free country, and we can't even own certain pets? This crap is pissing me off so much.

This is only one perfect example of why breed specific legislation is simply not effective. I've said it many times before and I'll say it again: A lot of people don't even know what a 'pit bull' is or looks like. That includes the so called officials who are paid to enforce these legislations. How can you ban something if you don't know what it is? and how can you enforce the ban if you don't know what's being banned?

Of course there are millions of problems with BSL but this here is evidence of the ignorance that some dogs and their owners put up with and dog owners need to make an example of how outrageous BSL is.
