CBN News ( Christian Broadcasting Network) has just aired a piece about microchipping livestock, pets and people, entitled, Is There An ID Chip In Your Future?
As part of her piece on chip implants, Heather Sells, the CBN reporter, came to New Jersey a few weeks back to interview me with regard to pet microchips, as speak with two very dedicated individuals, the founder of NJ Greyhound Rescue and the predident of the Garden State Terrier Association.
She also interviewed a woman from Little Ferry, NJ who was implanted with a human chip as part of a
joint program by her insurance company, NJ Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey, Hackensack Medical Center AND none other than Digital Angel.
BTW - this woman's chip has migrated (just as in pets) and now Hackensack Medical Center says removal of the chip is not covered and if she wants it out it will cost approx. 10K.
Featured in the news piece are Greg Niewendorp - a Michigan farmer who refused to have his animals chipped and Dr. Katherine Albrecht - an RFID expert and privacy activist, and author of the book SpyChips.
Healther Sells ' report looks at the coercive tactics being used against small family farmers by states to implement NAIS - the National Animal Identitification System - a supposedly "voluntary" program to chip ALL livestock animals.
BTW - in case you didn't know - Pets ARE NOT EXCLUDED from future NAIS inplementations.
For those of you familiar with pet microchips - you should know that Home Again is owned by Schering Plough - one of the world's largest drugmakers - which makes drugs for companion animals, livestock and people.
She also touches on the involuntary or mandatory microchipping laws for pets that are being passed in many communities, and the privacy and health implications for pet owners and their pets.

You've seen those warm and fuzzy ads - you've read PR pieces masquerading as news in papers telling you how Mary Q. Public was reunited with her long lost kitty all because of a Home Again chip implant.
Home Again is a trade name owned by Schering Plough - a giant pharmaceutical company - to market their Home Again chip .
Now before I go any further, I just want to say that I have nothing against pharma companies.
That's because when I end up in the ER - I WANT to have painkillers and antibiotics. After my car accident and after surgery - that morphine pump was my NBF. And when my daughter's boyfriend - who is a severe diabetic - ends up in the ER - you better believe that he wants that mega injection of insulin.
Now - back to the chips.
The Home Again chip is actually manufactured by Digital Angel (they are the Licensee in the US) and Schering Plough spends big bucks on a warm and fuzzy marketing campaign that positions microchip implants as a benign method of have your lost pets returned.
You better think again.

DOG OWNERS - THE NEW SEX OFFENDERS
As mandatory microchipping for pets becomes law in cities and towns around the country - you should ask yourself if you think the goverment - your LOCAL MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT - should be chipping your animal and tracking you in a database like a sex offender.
And just where will your data end up and with whom if the database is part of public information?
Is it sold? Cross-referenced with other public or proprietary databases, like ChoicePoint?
Are you being profiled and you don't even know it? (Maybe you already do if you own a pitbull or a Rottweiler).

And just how safe is your data?
And what if the management of such a mandated municipal database is outsourced? To whom? AND - just who controls or has ties to those database management companies?
Furthermore - you should think critically about the people you elected to public office - your LOCAL city council representatives.
If they are more interested in doing the bidding of large, multi-national corporations like Digitial Angel and Schering Plough - while at the same time depriving you of your privacy and constitutional protections- then maybe you should send them a very clear message in your next local or state election.

Your hired them by voting for them (or by default by not showing up to the polls).
You have the ability to fire them - just by showing up to the polls.
