Two ranking Democrats - Senators Tom Harkin (D) of Iowa and Patrick Leahy (D) Vermont - have moved to deny American citizens the right to file a FOIA (Freedom Of Information Act) form with respect to the hotly contested National Animal Identification System in this year's Farm Bill.
Incredible as it is - Tom Harkin & Patrick Leahy seem to be doing the bidding of giant factory farming interests and RFID chipmaker, Digital Angel by preventing the American People from finding out WHO and WHAT is in the NAIS database.
How? By burying a provision in this year's Farm Bill that prohibits FOIA disclosure of data contained in the USDA's National Animal Identification System database, that's how.
What's that? DEMOCRATS covering stuff up - burying tricky language deep in a bill? DEMOCRATS helping giant congomerates (and perhaps helping themselves at the same time?)?
Yeah- I'm talking about you - Harkin & Leahy.
Dems Supporting Secret Databases
In a move that's more befitting of the Bush Administration, Harkin and Leahy are lining up to deny - no, make that destroy - transparency in government by eliminating the ability for citizen's to FOIA records from the (allegedly voluntary) NAIS database.
For all of the outcry from Democrats over the last years about the Bush Adminstration's abuses of power - the secret databases, demanding and GETTING customer records from phone companies and airlines, about secret detainee camps and the Justice Department dispensing with the need to obtain warrants.........
And just plan erasing constitutional proctections and ignoring the Rule of Law.
But now it's the DEMOCRATS who are making secret databases and it's the DEMOCRATS that are now planning to DENY us the the ability - no the RIGHT- to access the NAIS infomation citing Homeland Security.
And they call themselves Dems??? Registered Democrats (like me) will be lining up to cross party lines if this baby goes through.
Are you listening Howard Dean? Hilary? And Joe Trippi - Dem media guru (or should I say media slut?)
"Let me see your papers!" Police in New Rochelle, New York are demanding to see the PHOTO ID of innocent dog owners who are walking in the park with their dogs.
Gee - the last time I checked, this wasn't Nazi Germany.
Gee - the last time I checked - it was illegal and unconstitutional for police to stop a citizen and demand identification - for no reason.
New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson and members of the mostly Democratic City Council have been taking their cues from the current administration and their penchant for dispensing with democracy and those nasty old documents - the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Dog Nazis In New Rochelle
That's right, dear readers, the Mayor and city council have turned New Rochelle into a police state. The city is sending armed police into Ward Acres Park to scour for dog owners and demanding their photo ID.
Can you say unconstitutional? Can you say civil rights? Can you say 4th Amendment?
If it could happen here.......

Friends -
Please join me this Thursday & Friday, October 18th & 19th from 10 AM - 12 PM EST on www.WTPRN.com for two hours of live radio each day.
I am honored to be the guest host for Dr. Katherine Albrecht's radio show, "Uncovering The Truth", and stepping in for one of the world's leading privacy experts and advocates.
As many of you know, Dr. Albrecht, in conjuntion with Associated Press, broke the story two weeks ago on the microchip/cancer realtionship in pets. She is also the founder of CASPIAN, a consumer privacy group as well as the co-author , along with Liz McIntyre, of SPYCHIPS - How Major Corporations and The Government Plan To TracknYour Every Purchase and Watch Your Every Move.
Please join me for two hours of Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness - with Dogs, as we talk about the threats that dog owners face every day.
And on Friday, Greg Niewendorp, a small, organic farmer from Michigan, along with Deborah Stockton, will be my guests as we discuss NAIS - the National Animal Identification System.
We'll get an update on Greg's very own fight to defend his herd of heirloom cattle from being forcibly chipped. Greg's personal story from will have you outraged.
Deborah Stockton is defending small organic farmers and producers. If you care about the food you eat, and where it comes from, then listen up. When you walk into that supermarket, that tea shop - and you want organic tea, or locally raised beef or chicken by real farmers and some some govi-corp - then you'd better open you pocketbook and buy the good stuff from the good guys.
Then, after you open your wallet - I want you to open your mouth and call your congressional and state reps.
Otherwise - you can kiss the last reamining farmers goodbye and see them and their land sucked up into the comglomerate collective and you be sucking down soylent green in the not-too-distant future.
It's time to reach beyond the dog world. It's time to learn how we must all stand together to stand up for the right to not only own the dog of your choice, but own any animal.
Tune in, Turn On and Drop By - this Thursday & Friday, 10 AM EST at www.WTPRN.com
Oh yeah, and My Dog Votes ;-)
It seems no reporter is safe from Wayne Pacelle, the HSUS talking head CEO, as he pontificates his point of view on the fate on Michael Vick's remaining dogs.
And that POV, of course, is death.
Now is it just me or do you also find it insane that an organization that purports to "protect" animals is in fact advocating for the death of animals?
Wayne Pacelle - Vick's Dogs Must Die
This week, a federal judge will decide the fate of Michael Vick's remaining dogs, 53 pitbulls.
Mr. Pacelle, speaking for the world's largest and richest animal organization, HSUS, apparently thinks these pitbulls should and must die.
In an article in the Virginian-Pilot earlier this week enetitled, "Deadline Looms For Pitbulls Seized In Vick Investigation", Pacelle, the HSUS CEO, is quoted as saying, " it does not make sense to keep these animals alive".
But wait - there's more.......................is it even more insane!

You'll want to stay updated on this case and its potential impact on pet ownership - read that as ANY animal ownership. Dog owners & others - take note!
Dr. Mary Zanoni of Farm For Life, a leading attorney in the opposition to NAIS, reported that the very first lawsuit to challenge the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) Premises Registration was filed yesterday in state court in Pennsylvania. (Information on NAIS is below).
In Landis v. Wolff, James Landis, a Mennonite farmer from Lancaster County, is challenging the PA Department of Agriculture's demand that Mr. Landis submit to the NAIS Premises ID requirement, as a violation of Mr. Landis' constitutional rights to freely practice his religion. You can download a copy of complaint HERE: Download LandisComplaint.pdf
The PA Dept of Agriculture plans to strip Farmer Landis of his ability to take his ducks to market in New York City, which will result in the loss of his livelihood, if he fails to comply with a supposedly "voluntary" Premises ID requirement of the National Animal Identification System.
In response to the filing, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania ordered that a hearing on a request for a preliminary injunction be held on Thursday, June 28, 2007, in Harrisburg, PA.
NAIS - The Evil Master Plan
What exactly is NAIS, you ask?
The National Animal Identification System is that evil master plan pushed by big industrial agribiz conglomerates - Cargill, Monsanto, etc. to mandatory microchip, track and control every living creature, starting with farm or livestock animals.
Btw - as an animal owner, that includes tracking all of YOUR data and activity as well.
NAIS is also backed by some highly-placed, high-tech companies, with lots of former elected officials who have bailed out of government to jump on board the gravy train in this lucrative private sector.
Why? These microchip firms and defense contractors, database managment firms and other government suppliers will make BILLIONS off the RFID chips, tracking technologies and database managment services that will be required if the NAIS becomes law.
Not to scare you BUT NAIS is due for implentation in 2008. Wakey wakey, dearest dog owners.
Critics say NAIS not only violates constitutional rights, violates privacy for all animal owners, but NAIS will put small family farmers, organic farmers and small ranchers out of business, leaving only the heavyweights to provide food for America's tables. (I told you it was evil, didn't I?)
So how did an Evil Master Plan like NAIS plan make the leap into to government?
The information here comes from the Responsible Dog Owners Of The Western States (RDOWS) , which has just updated the list of breeds that have been banned or restricted in the U.S.
All you dog lovers out there may just be in for a shock. BSL - or breed-specific legislation and breed discrimination- isn't just for pitbulls or Rottweilers anymore.
The RDOWS has tracked a list of 75 breeds of dogs that have been banned or restricted - yep - that's Seventy-five. That's 75!
Just who or what is behind this breed ban frenzy?
Is your dog on the list of banned or restricted breeds?
Here's the deal...............

What's the difference between a sex offender and a dog owner? Apparently not much - both are ID'd and tracked through a government database.
That's why pet owners need to pay close attention and:
SAVE THE DATE : Friday, 4/27 - 10 -12 AM EST and tune into www.WTPRN.com
I'll be a guest on Dr. Katherine Albrecht's new Internet radio show, "Uncovering The Truth " on We The People Radio Network for an important discussion about mandatory microchipping laws and their impact on civil liberties and privacy for pet owners.
This is not about the volunatary ID of your pet.
Involuntary or Mandatory Microchipping is the forced implantation of an RFID chip into your pet, followed by the capture of your data and registration into a database - just like a sex offender - and the subsequent surveillance and tracking of your data.
Mandatory microchipping laws for pets have been passed in Florida, Texas and other communities - and proposed laws are pending in lots of other places - including New York State.
This identification and surveillence - of both you and your pet - is not voluntary. And mandatory microchipping laws are not about .............
Is Sonya Dias about to fly a legal suicide mission into the tower of dog ownership?
Does she have ulterior motives in challenging the pitbull ban in Denver, that doggie death camp for pitbulls?
They are the questions fueling the controversy that is swirling over the legal challenge to the U.S.A.'s most controversial breed ban, a lawsuit by pitbull owners against the City and County of Denver. The suit is based on the grounds that Denver violated the 5th and 14th Amendments - Due Process and Equal Rights - of the Plaintiffs. You can get a copy of the complaint HERE: Download Dias.V.Denver.pdf
But the fur was flying not 12 hours after news of the suit was announced, as accusations surfaced that Plaintiffs, Sonya Dias and her legal team are actually using the suit - not to defend the rights of pitbull owners ...............
